Entourage reliability is inconclusive to date-- but warranty and price should impress used minivan shoppers.
The Hyundai Entourage was never what most would call a sales success. It was only available in Canada for a span of 2 model years, the Korean competitor to the Dodge Caravan was axed after 2008. Coincidentally, that’s the year it was called Canada’s “Best New Minivan” by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC). Entourage beat out the completely overhauled Chrysler minivans for the award-- but the American products went on to surpass Hyundai’s annual minivan sales in a matter of days.

The Entourage rides a platform shared with the Kia Sedona, which is still on sale for 2009. It delivered generous proportions-- including over 4,000 available litres of usable cargo space with all rear seats folded or removed. With 5 doors, 7 passenger seating and plenty of space, Entourage was ready to haul value-minded families around with room to spare.

Numerous trim levels and options were available to shoppers. Look for air conditioning with in-cabin filtration, as well as a separate air conditioner for rear seat occupants. Cruise and power accessories were standard, and the Entourage’s interior was dotted with 10 total cupholders. If you like to keep a selection of drinks handy on the go, you’ll love this minivan.

More basic ‘L’ or ‘GL’ models were equipped generously, but higher-end Entourage models like the ‘GLS’ or ‘Limited’ get features like heated leather, an 8-way power adjustable driver seat, and even an overhead DVD entertainment console. A rear parking distance sensor, power liftgate, sunroof and power sliding doors were available, too.

As a family hauler, Entourage had things covered admirably on the safety front. Look for front, side and side-curtain airbags, an alarm, immobilizer, and ABS disc brakes with brake assist and brakeforce distribution. Both traction and stability control were standard on all models, too.

All Entourages came with a torquey 3.8 litre V6 engine paired to a five-speed automatic with manual mode shifting. The V6 engine made 242 horsepower in 2007 and a slightly improved 250 ponies the year after. This powerplant features service-free timing chains as opposed to timing belts which require periodic and somewhat expensive replacement.
