As far as I'm concerned, styling is by far one of the most important aspects of a car. Admittedly, while it won't win any award, the new Chrysler Sebring looks pretty attractive. The racy lines are combined with some of the brand's most familiar design cues.

With a sleek body, the Sebring has that little distinctive edge that allows it to stand out from the sea of mid-size sedans. With regards to everything else, however, it blends in the middle of the pack.

A revised interior

The dashboard, while far from exceptional, is rather interesting with white-face gauges (typical of Chrysler cars). Even better, the lines were drawn so as to copy, albeit with a lot of imagination, the company's winged logo.

There's nothing inside that I found impressive, although most controls are fairly well positioned and easy to use. Surprisingly, despite the two-tone color scheme (beige and brown), the overall atmosphere feels rather simplistic and not as classy as one could wish for.

The front seats are comfortable and supportive, both for the back and the sides. You can drive for several hours without suffering from backaches. That's a huge plus right there. On the other hand, the rear bench is pretty narrow, meaning three people will feel squeezed... unless they're young kids. Also, I found it a bit too low to be truly comfortable.

As for amenities, the list is diversified but not comprehensive. The trip computer, remote entry system, 6-CD changer and universal garage-door opener are optional on all Sebring models. Of course, you can also add the famous MyGig multimedia infotainment system with navigation and hard drive to store pictures and tunes.

Better on the road
The road is where the new Sebring deserves the biggest applause. The fact of the matter is, this car almost drives by itself, requiring virtually no effort from the driver. The 235-hp, 3.5-liter V6 of the Touring model is easily up to the task and allows the car to navigate through traffic with pleasant confidence. Accelerations are good, while passing maneuvers are quick enough to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers.
