Normalizing the Hybrid
The flow of hybrid power, rated at 110 horsepower and 123 pound-feet of torque, is captured by a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) before being directed to the Civic's front wheels. The CVT functions automatically, and can be downshifted to take advantage of engine braking.

The two-tone theme caught my eye and nicely complemented the cabin's excellent ergonomics.

Maximizing space Honda style
The latest Civic iteration encompasses a broad swath of inner real estate, which seems incongruent with the vehicle's diminutive overall size. I found exceptionally generous head and legroom in the driver's perch and more space in the rear seat than one would expect in this segment.

Not only does the Civic impress with its space allotments I really admire the flair exhibited by its appealing interior design, which dares to be different. The two-tone theme caught my eye and nicely complemented the cabin's excellent ergonomics.

Forward and side visibility is very good thanks in part to the huge sheets of glass surrounding the passenger compartment. Trunk space is slightly diminished over that of a conventional Civic due to the battery pack located behind the rear seat of the Civic Hybrid. This placement also eliminates the ability to drop the rear seat backs in order to expand cargo space.

On the road with the Hybrid Honda
I found this vehicle to be downright pleasurable to drive about town. Part of that pleasure arose from a sense of smugness in knowing that a reduced carbon footprint accompanied me. And best of all, I never felt as though I was driving a "tinny" stripped down econo-box.

The Civic Hybrid rides upon a fully independent suspension arrangement that equips the compact sedan with sharp, lively handling characteristics along with a highly composed ride, which could be described as taut but absorbent.

Trunk space is slightly diminished due to the battery pack located behind the rear seat.
