On the other hand, the list of standard features seems to justify the price difference between the Eclipse GT-P and the base GS model (over $8,000). In addition to the insanely mightier engine and more sophisticated gearbox, buyers get traction control, gorgeous 18-inch alloys with V-rated all-season tires (though winter tires are a must), fog lights and a power sunroof. ABS brakes come standard with both models.

Trunk capacity amounts to 445 liters, but the rear seatbacks fold down to give you even more cargo versatility.

Noisy!!!
The Eclipse GT-P also rolls out of the factory with a 650-watt, 9-speaker Rockford Fosgate premium audio unit which music lovers will definitely rave about. Unfortunately, the massive subwoofer takes away a fair amount of space inside the trunk. On the plus side, though, cargo capacity can be increased thanks to the 50/50 split-folding rear seats.

You still have to lift the heavy rear hatch up and then load your items by contorting your body due to a cargo threshold that's equally wide and tall. But that's the price you pay for such attractive lines, not to mention the impressively solid feel provided by the Eclipse GT-P.

Spacious trunk
Precise manual gearbox
Sexy look

"Fair" price
Significant fuel consumption

Limited rearward visibility
Major torque steer
Complicated access to the trunk
