2008 V50 T5 wrap-up
The Volvo V50 T5 is notable for its operational refinement and well-mannered performance. I enjoyed time in its comfortable solid cabin, appreciating the serenity found therein. Albeit I'm no shrimp by any measure, extra long-legged operators may yearn for additional legroom in the driver's seat.

Volvo offers several options that may increase the bill rapidly.

Not much real estate is left to accommodate the legs of rear seat passengers if those occupying the front seats are unwilling to share. But then again, the V50 is a compact wagon, and that is to be expected. Also to be expected is a fairly diminutive cargo hold, thanks in part to the vehicle's sloping roofline.

Despite size limitations, I strongly urge those in the "upscale" compact wagon market to explore the V50 T5. The basic V50 starts at a reasonable $32,995. Adding "T5" to the nomenclature will push the sticker to $38,995 for a front-wheel-drive (FWD) version. The all-wheel-drive (AWD) edition starts at $41,495. These vehicles are well equipped in base form however several option packages are available to satisfy greater needs and budgets.

Clean, bold appearance
Tremendous operational refinement
Smooth, composed ride
Stable handling

Not so generous rear seat legroom
Somewhat diminutive cargo-hold
