Big and strong
Even more interesting is the all-new eight-cylinder monster (the same as the upcoming Hyundai Genesis), which produces 337 horsepower and 323 pounds-feet of torque through a 6-speed autobox. Towing capacity increases to 7,500 pounds -- nearly as much as other full-size SUVs.

As for styling, the Borrego is a true member of the Kia family.

Once again, the company banks on fuel economy: this V8 averages 12.3 liters per 100 kilometers, meaning you won't get slapped with the federal government's excise tax on fuel-inefficient vehicles (13+ L/100 km).

Smart interior
The Kia Borrego is not only a capable, competent SUV but also a convenient family hauler. Large enough to accommodate 7 passengers (including two kids in the third row, obviously), it offers decent headroom and legroom for everybody, not to mention a vast cargo area.

The dashboard might lack flair (and a navigation system, even as an option), but it's user-friendly and eye-pleasing nonetheless. The instruments are easy to read, particularly the information display inside the main gauge which provides data from the trip computer.

Kia puts a lot of emphasis on safety, offering six standard airbags, electronic stability and traction control, ABS and brake assist across the line.

Two trim levels will be available in Canada. Both the LX and EX are similarly equipped, although the latter adds leather seats, dual-zone climate control and a driver's knee airbag, among other things.

The dashboard might lack flair, but it is user-friendly and eye-pleasing nonetheless.
