I've just returned from the U.S. capitol. No, I wasn't there to chit chat with Mr. Bush and offer him the benefit of my wisdom. He didn't listen to me before, so why should I help him out now!

Besides, I had far more important things to do there, like driving the new 2009 Jetta Wagon from Volkswagen.

Now I say important, because it is. After all, the Jetta has been one of the mainstay vehicles in the VW lineup since, well, many of its drivers first learned to tie their shoelaces.

The Jetta has been one of the mainstay vehicles in the VW lineup.

That might sound as though I'm playing the fool again as usual, but think about it for a moment. Many of today's Jetta owners are from the younger age group. Much of that can be accounted for by VW's keen pricing on its City Golf and City Jetta lineup, which has made them a smart choice for those with student loans to pay off.

However, as we all know, especially Mr. Bush, life doesn't always go according to plan. One minute, there you are out playing the party animal, the next, Miss, or even Mr. Wonderful has appeared, and you're off down the road to smelly diapers and little legged wonders that seem to constantly be asking "WHY"!

At that time, all thoughts of little red Corvettes and canary yellow Vipers go out the window as fast as a politician's election promises, and reality finally leads you towards a minivan, or at least something similar.

Enter the Wagon! Yes, it might not cut much mustard with the boys down at the Tim Horton's car park, but for a twenty something Mom or Dad, they look much better than a people carrying microbus!

Obviously, that was ok for your Mom and Dad, but whose parents ever knew better than their kids?

No, today's young parents want more. They want a vehicle, which offers plenty of room, yet can still be termed "stylish". What I think they want, and need, is a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta Wagon.

Let's take a closer look at that vehicle.

The Jetta Wagon is available in three levels. The Trendline or base (starting at $23,475), the Comfortline (Starting at $25,975), and of course, at the top of the range is the Highline (starting at $29,375). All the above prices are for the 5 speed manual versions, although for extra $1400, all these can be equipped with a 6 speed DSG Automatic transmission with Tiptronic.
