Not great, but not bad
But guess what? All Avengers currently come with a $3,000 rebate. As such, the Dodge undercuts enemies like the Chevrolet Malibu LT with Performance Package ($30,695), the Ford Fusion SEL V6 ($28,799), the Honda Accord EX-V6 ($31,190) and the Toyota Camry SE with Leather & Moonroof Package ($30,530).

Fuel economy isn’t bad, as we averaged 11.8 L/100 km.

So, is the Avenger one of the best mid-size sedans on the market? Absolutely not. It lacks the refinement, power, space and overall quality of the segment leaders, and even cross-town brand Ford has done a much better job with its Fusion. But for the price, the Avenger is a decent, honest sedan that leaves us thinking that it isn’t nearly as bad behind the wheel as is it on its spec sheet.
