The Ford F-150 was completely remade for model-year 2009, and the changes have been more than enough to maintain its status as Canada’s best selling truck. And this is in a segment where the other players, from GM and Ram, have also been recently reborn, and are also very fine trucks in their own right.

Highlights of the revision included: A new, stiffer frame; A new, classy interior, featuring rear seats that fold away to increase cargo carrying possibilities, and a new optional anti-sway trailer/tow package. It also meant the end of six-cylinder power for F-150.

Available power choices are the 4.6-litre V8, and the 5.4-litre V8.

The F-150 continues to be available in a dizzying number of variations, including three body styles (Regular Cab, Super Cab, Super Crew Cab), two drivetrains (RWD and 4x4), five trim lines (XL, STX, XLT, FX4, Lariat), and a whole whack of packages (XTR, FX2 Sport, FX4 Luxury, Lariat Chrome, King Ranch, Platinum, Harley-Davidson).

Model-year 2010 will be the first for F-150's new Work Solution options: In-Dash Computer, with internet and wireless mouse and printer; Tool Link, a radio-based system to keep track of your on-board tools and inventory; Crew Chief, a fleet telematics and diagnostics system, and Cable Lock, a security system for items for cargo.

But the big new for 2010 is the arrival of the F-150 SVT Raptor, a full-bore off-road vehicle, which also debuts a new engine to the line, the 6.2-litre V8, with 411 hp and 434 lb-ft of torque.
