Honda’s just updated their popular CR-V for the 2010 model year-- giving it more power, upgraded looks and a revised passenger compartment. The changes intend to give the CR-V a greater edge in the increasingly competitive crossover market while offering CR-V shoppers even more value.

Engineers have cranked the CR-V’s engine from 166 to 180 horsepower by utilizing revised piston rings, larger intake valves and a higher-flowing exhaust system. The revamped 2.4 litre, four-cylinder unit also gets fuel injectors with a more precise spray pattern, a higher-resolution timing sensor, and a bump in compression ratio.

Despite the added power, Honda says the CR-V’s mileage has been improved, too. Front wheel drive remains standard, and shoppers after all-season, all-terrain confidence can opt for the CR-V’s available four wheel drive system.

Be sure to check out the dressed-up exterior, which gets a new wheel design, a new grille, new bumpers, and a new hood. Inside, designers have altered the radio control layout, seat fabric textures, various panels and the door handles for a refreshed look.

Of course, the interior retains all of the functionality and flexibility that have long defined it. Folding seats, plentiful cargo capacity and abundant storage ensure all occupants can easily keep organized on the go.

Of course, all occupants are protected on the go, too. CR-V’s award-winning safety story comes in part thanks to standard stability control, side curtain airbags, advanced ABS brakes and active front head restraints on every model.

With its combination of safety, flexibility and newly increased power, the updated 2010 CR-V is worth a close look. Pricing starts at $26,290.
