Fiat is back in North America. Following a strategic alliance with Chrysler, the Italian automaker just presented the North-American version of the 500 at the 2010 Los Angeles car show.
Three versions of the four-passenger hatchback will be available: Pop, Lounge and Sport. They will all differ with their levels of equipment, the Sport version having a more aggressive look, a bigger grille, fog lights, side skirts, red painted calipers, a chrome exhaust tip and exclusive 16-inch alloy wheels. Dimensions-wise, the car is 5 inches shorter, 3.2 inches taller and 300 pounds lighter than the MINI Cooper, who will be its closest competitor.
Our version of the Fiat 500 is equipped with a 1.4-litre 4-cylinder engine giving out 101 horsepower and a respectable 98 lb-ft of torque, allowing the car to reach 100 km/h in 10 seconds.
