The 2010 Paris Motor Show has turned undoubtedly green and clean with a focus on a huge reduction of CO2 and the presence of several electric vehicles. Race cars were not numerous indeed…

Despite all this, the three major French car manufacturers were proud to promote their success in motorsport.

Citroen had a racing section with their current World Rally Car, the C4 WRC and the new DS3 fitted with a turbocharged, 300-hp, 1.6-litre, direct injection four-cylinder engine.

Peugeot had their 2009 Le Mans-winning 908 HDi FAP, an ageing turbo diesel endurance race car but still capable of beating the stunning new Audi R15.

Renault put the emphasis on Formula 1 (we note that the three French manufacturer all have their niche!) and displays a R30 from this season, along with a genuine V-8 F1 engine, which is a pure work of art.

Other race cars to be seen in the various buildings of the Mondial include a Porsche GT3R Hybrid, a Ford Fiesta RS WRC powered by the Ecoboost four-cylinder motor, a Renault Megane Trophy powered by a 360-hp 3.5-litre engine, the gorgeous electric Citroen Survolt, a Saleen endurance car from the Larbre team, an Audi R10 from Le Mans, a McLaren-Mercedes MP4-24 F1 car, a stunning vintage Lancia Stratos rally car driven by Bernard Darniche, a Ferrari F10 F1 racer, a WTCC Chevrolet Cruze and an endurance Chevrolet Corvette C6R, and not forgetting the new MINI Clubman of WRC.

The Mondial is held at Porte de Versailles in Paris until October 17.
