Any which way you ponder the Concours, it is a get-together of some of the rarest automobiles in the World. In one case, of the 16 1957 Jaguar XKSS' that were ever made, a dozen were parked at the very end of the show floor, on the 18th. Quite a sight to behold!

One of my favourites from the show was a 1934 Pierce-Arrow 836A Cantrell... Station Wagon! This car is not only a 75 year-old wagon but it is known as being the only one that was ever build, an only child. As if that wasn't good enough, the 836A was unrestored, essentially preserved in its original condition! Sporting a 366 cu/in straight-8 cylinder engine, it seemed to be able to tow the large Pierce-Arrow trailer it had behind it with ease.

The other car that caught my attention was the 1938 Tatra Type 77a Limousine owned by John Long of Toronto Canada. The Czechoslovakian car company built cars for 102 years (1897-1999) and this Type 77a was a significant model as it was one of the most futuristic of that era being a novel “aerodynamic car”. There are so many cool features on this car that it would take too much time to enumerate them all here. I suggest that you google this car to see how far ahead of its time it actually was, 72 years ago.

Although there were many winners, the 2010 Pebble Beach Concours d'Élégance Best of Show was a 1933 Delage D8S De Villars Roadster. I do so hope to come back in the future to see more of these extraordinary cars!
