The 1M will arrive in both U.S. and Canadian dealers this spring, but don’t expect BMW to dump boatloads of them in North America.

In fact, BMW Canada execs shared an interesting detail with us the evening before this year’s Montreal Auto Show press day, when we got to meet their new President and CEO, Dr. Manfred Braünl.

The US market will get an allocation of 600 1M coupes for 2011, which will carry an MSRP of $47,010 US. But despite the U.S. market scooping up 8 times as many BMWs as the Canadian market, the latter will receive an allocation of 200 1Ms this year. Apparently, Canadians buy more BMW M cars and trucks per capita than Americans.

The 340-horsepower, Canadian-spec 1 Series M Coupé’s price has not yet been announced, but BMW did mention that Canadian models will include more standard equipment than the US-spec versions. We’re guessing an MSRP hovering around $60,000 CDN.
