The new X3 (along with the X1) are aces in the hole for BMW. As competition becomes fiercer in the compact luxury CUV market - what with the arrival of the Rand Rover Evoque, Audi Q3 (joining the Q5), Porsche Cajun and rumours about a compact Lexus and Lincoln to go along with the Infiniti EX, Acura RDX and Mercedes GLK-Class, to name a few - the X3 has to be good. And it is. After all, it stands as one of the originators of the segment.

The only two issues with the X3 are one and the same; how it crosses the X5 in price and size.
