The new X3 (along with the X1) are aces in the hole for BMW. As competition becomes fiercer in the compact luxury CUV market - what with the arrival of the Rand Rover Evoque, Audi Q3 (joining the Q5), Porsche Cajun and rumours about a compact Lexus and Lincoln to go along with the Infiniti EX, Acura RDX and Mercedes GLK-Class, to name a few - the X3 has to be good. And it is. After all, it stands as one of the originators of the segment.
