More bad-ass!
For years, critics and consumer's complaints of cheesy Chrysler interiors have seemingly fallen on deaf ears.

It appears that Chrysler has finally listened – the Charger's attractive cabin boasts premium materials assembled with care and attention to detail. Gone are the cheap plastics, replaced with leather and soft touch materials on dash and surface areas. The seats are covered with real Nappa leather, the smaller leather-wrapped steering wheel is thick and grippy, and pillars and headliner are now premium fabric. The tight fitting, once piece dash features a genuine aluminum instrument panel, and the centre console houses a standard 4.3 inch touch screen displaying radio, vehicle settings and climate control. Opting for navigation substitutes an 8.6 inch screen with backup camera.

There's a host of Uconnect and safety features available, including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-path detection.

We're impressed not only with the quality of materials and construction, but with the level of noise insulation and quiet ride. Seating is cushy but could use some more bolstering, those narrow of posterior may find themselves feeling less than planted.

Although the wheelbase and footprint remain the same, the multilink front and rear suspension have been re-tuned with all new springs, dampers and bushings for a much tighter, racier feel. There are three suspension packages offered: a basic Touring package with 17 or 18 inch wheels, a stiffer Performance package with tighter steering and 20 inch wheels, and a new Super Track package with aggressively stiff suspension, upgraded dampers and sway bars, better brake pads and Goodyear Eagle F1 tires.

Our tester, a RWD R/T Charger with the Performance package was composed and planted throughout a drive route that included those infamous San Francisco hills and wound up through the challenging switchbacks of the coastal Sonoma Mountains.
Steering is quick and responsive, and the car's handling while not exactly BMW 3-series agile, is much improved.

Steve McQueen's 1968 Mustang GT Fastback furiously fleeing the ominous, black 1968 Dodge Charger R/T 440 Magnum in the movie "Bullitt", forever established the Charger's reputation as one bad-ass muscle car.

Mustang owners – beware. There's a new Charger headed your way.
