A sophisticated off-roader!
The Jeep Liberty descends from the Cherokee, which is said to have pioneered the sport utility genre... before the term ''SUV'' was even coined!

Larger than a Jeep Patriot, the Liberty represents a rugged alternative to high-sellers like the Ford Escape, Toyota RAV4 and Hyundai Tucson. Unlike these city-oriented models, it's designed and built to tackle more serious terrain.

The 2011 Jeep Liberty is available in three trim levels: Sport, Renegade and Limited. All benefit from a standard four-wheel drive system and a 210-horsepower, 3.7-litre V6 mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. The company has stopped offering a manual gearbox since the 2008 model year.

This domestic SUV sits 4 to 5 passengers and boasts average cargo capacity. You can either lift the hatch or flip up the articulated rear window to access the cargo area.

Setting the Liberty further apart from the competition is a unique option called Sky Slider. This full-length open-canvas roof closes very tightly and opens wide to provide a genuine open-air feeling.

New colours and stereos
For 2011, this Jeep adds new body colour choices, including Blackberry Pearl, Bright White Clear and Deep Cherry Red Crystal Pearl.

All models get a new steering wheel (not as thick as the old one) featuring controls for the audio system, Electronic Vehicle Information Centre (EVIC), cruise control and available Uconnect hands-free calling device.

Jeep also offers three new stereos or, as they call them, ''media centres.'' The first is a modern AM/FM/CD/DVD/MP3 unit with auxiliary jack, 6.5-inch touchscreen and 30-gigabyte hard drive. The second adds a Garmin navigation system, while the third stands out with Uconnect navigation, SIRIUS Traffic and SIRIUS Travel Link.
