The final tally is telling: The gap between the loser and the winner was only 3.4% which is a clear indicator that competition is fierce.
Following our test, we’ve come to the conclusion that aesthetics are just as important as any other aspect, including price.
Although this may be true for us, the fact that the Toyota RAV4 remains a strong seller proves that a book cannot be judged by its cover. However, the market as a whole is looking for funky, original and attractive vehicles. Remember, those that are 16-17 years old today will soon be in their mid-20s and starting families. This generation is all about brands and looks, and the current RAV4 is none of these.
As for the crop of newbies, both the CX-5 and Escape have other powertrains on the docket that will make them even more competitive.
With other players like the Volkswagen Tiguan, Mitsubishi Outlander, Hyundai Tucson, GMC Terrain, and Nissan Rogue, amongst many others, choices abound.
For all of you shopping in this segment, we strongly believe that the top four participants of this test will correspond to 99% of all your needs.
