Dodge is making a comeback in the compact sedan market with the all-new, aerodynamic 2013 Dart. The 5-seat, FWD model is built on the Alfa Romeo Giulietta’s platform and offers phenomenal customization options, such as 12 exterior colours, 14 interior combinations, 7 types of wheels ranging from 16” to 18” and a total of 5 trims, the SE, SXT, Rallye, Limited and R/T.
The 2013 Dodge Dart rolls off the line with a 2.0L inline-four. Dubbed Tigershark, it punches out 160 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque. Two other engines are available, a 1.4L Multiair I-4 that produces 160 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque between 2,500 and 4,000 rpm and, from the third quarter of 2012, a 2.4L Multiair I-4 delivering 184 hp and 171 lb-ft of torque.
The engines can be mated to three transmissions, a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic and a 6-speed, sequential, dual-clutch number.
The 2013 Dodge Dart features four disc brakes linked to a MacPherson suspension in front and an independent configuration in back. The grille, available in four finishes, includes active shutters that open and close automatically. Combined with the car’s studied lines, the front and rear spoilers and the rear diffuser, the system ensures superior aerodynamics. The body comes in a choice of 12 colours and can be highlighted by no less than 150 Mopar accessories.
The cabin is just as customizable, with a selection of 14 colour combinations. The angled dash looks like it’s floating and allows easy access to all controls. The exclusive illuminated trim creates a unique atmosphere.
Storage abounds, including a compartment under the passenger seat, a glove box that can accommodate an electronic tablet as well as side pockets on the centre console and under the central armrest, where you’ll also find various ports (AUX, USB and SD) to plug in your gadgets.
