Due to fuel supply concerns, the American automaker has recalled 9,320 units of its 2013 Ford Escape
, 2,181 of which have been sold in Canada. On certain vehicles, the 1.6 L turbocharged engine has a faulty fuel line which could split and leak fuel, potentially causing a fire or personal injury if anywhere near an open flame.
Ford also recalled 2013 Escape models on July 4 because of problems with the braking system. Carpeting was incorrectly installed on the left side of the brake pedal, possibly interfering with its use. 2013 Escape owners are urged to get in touch with their dealership to fix the fuel line problem.
