Fuel Economy

Hyundai fuel economy estimates for the Sonata hybrid are 5.4 L/100 km for the base model (city), 5.5 L/100 km for the two Limited models (city); highway consumption is rated at 4.9 L/100 km for all three versions.

New and Improved
The 2013 Sonata Hybrid is powered by a more powerful electric motor and battery that have been reduced in size, adding an extra 40 litres of trunk space when compared to the 2012 model.

Exterior Styling
The Sonata Hybrid has specific styling elements that set it apart from its gasoline-powered sibling. Both front and rear end have benefitted from various styling changes; variable front air inlets improve aerodynamic performance, enlarged side skirts and lowered chassis also contribute to its unique style and performance. The base Hybrid is equipped with standard 16-inch wheels while both Limited versions are shod with 17-inch wheels.

Additional Equipment

Heated front seats, LED signal lights, foglights, Bluetooth, proximity key, stop/start button and dual-zone climate control are all standard equipment on the base model.

Limited versions benefit from electric driver seat, panoramic roof, self-dimming rear view mirror, leather trim and touch-screen navigation system among others.

Cargo Capacity
The available trunk space has grown from 304 to 344 litres from the 2012 edition.

Drivetrain

The 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is equipped with Hybrid Blue Drive, which provides improved 100% all-electric driving. The unit consists of a full parallel hybrid drive system powered by a lithium-ion polymer battery driving an electric motor, which has 35 KW (47 hp) increased power.

The electric motor unit is mated to a 2.4 litre Theta II Atkinson cycle engine and 6-speed automatic transmission. The 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is not equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) as are most of its competitors.

Safety
The Sonata Hybrid is equipped with the following safety features; 6 airbags (2 front passenger, 2 front seatback integrated lateral airbags and 2 side front and rear curtains), electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS and electronic brake force distribution.
