Pros: The Jaguar XKR (and XKR-S) is an adrenaline-pumped version of what used to be Jaguar’s sportiest model -- before the F-Type came to be, of course. With a somewhat functional backseat, the Jaguar XKR offers just as much power and prestige as the F-Type with a touch more practicality.

Cons: There is no more base Jaguar XK offered in Canada. The USA will be getting 50 limited edition models, however, Canada will only see the XKR and XKR-S and this, 2015, is the last model year for those, as well. Get ‘em while you can.

2015 Jaguar XKR Price and Fuel Economy: As mentioned above, the base XK model is no more as there are only XKR and XKR-S’ to be had (which isn’t entirely a bad thing). Available in coupe and convertible guise the pricing is as follows:

2015 Jaguar XKR Coupe $109,125
2015 Jaguar XKR-S Coupe $139,000
2015 Jaguar XKR Convertible $116,125
2015 Jaguar XKR-S Convertible $146,000

As for fuel economy, well, with a supercharged 5.0L V8 in each the combined rating for both the coupe and convertible is in the 13.5L/100km range. A more enjoyable number is the 0-100km/hr sprint that happens in just 4.4 seconds in the XKR-S Coupe. There, that’s better.

Powertrain: About that power; the 2015 Jaguar XKR and XKR-S both feature a 5.0L V8 supercharged engine. However, the mapping is different in each. So, the XKR produces 510 horsepower and 461 lb-ft of torque, while the XKR-S pumps out 550 ponies and 502 lb-ft of torque. Power is handled via a 6-speed automatic transmission, the only option available, and in all models is sent to the rear.

Changes and Improvements: The biggest change for 2015 is the lack of a base XK model. And, of course, this is the final model year for the XKR and XKR-S.

Cargo Capacity: There’s seating for four in both models, however, the back seat is not recommended for adults or anyone over the age of 5 for long periods of time. Trunk space in the coupe is 331 litres, and in the convertible 314 litres with the roof up and 200 litres with it down.

Safety: The 2015 Jaguar XKR and XKR-S coupe and convertible models are equipped with all manner of standard safety equipment and airbags, along with Jaguar’s Adaptive Restraint Technology System that assesses the severity of impact, as well as rollover protection in convertible models that detects an impending rollover and deploys two concealed protection bars within 65 milliseconds.

Comparing the 2015 Jaguar XKR: Nissan GT-R, Audi R8 V10 Plus, Corvette Stingray, Porsche 911 Turbo.
