Full-size pickup truck buyers have reasons to be excited these days: The significantly updated 2016 GMC Sierra has just been unveiled on the heels of its twin, the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado. It will go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2015, but unfortunately we don’t have many more details to report as the company prefers to reveal additional information in the coming months.

Just like the GMC Canyon and Yukon, the new GMC Sierra will be available with Apple’s CarPlay and Google’s Android Auto technologies. Outside, designers added C-shaped LED daytime running lights and LED headlights; a new front fascia and grille for each trim level; new LED fog lamps; new bumpers; and new C-shaped LED taillights.

As for powertrain options, no specifications have been provided so far, although you can expect all three existing engines to return for 2016 including:

  • 285hp 4.3L EcoTec3 V6;
  • 355hp 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 (with FlexFuel capability),
  • 420hp 6.2L EcoTec3 V8

GMC announced that its best-selling truck is coming off 12 consecutive months of year-over-year sales gains including the best June numbers since 2006.
