The all-new 2017 Subaru Impreza 4-door sedan and 5-door hatchback made their anticipated global debut last night and today, respectively, at the 2016 New York Auto Show. They will go on sale in the U.S. and Canada later this year, with all units now built in North America instead of Japan.
Based on the new Subaru Global Platform, the 2017 Impreza is the first in a series of next-generation vehicles designed under the company’s Vision Prominence 2020 plan. It also debuts the DYNAMIC x SOLID design language.
Expect world-class safety in addition to improved handling and ride quality from the stiffer, lighter, architecture. A lower center of gravity and revised suspension systems contribute to the biggest-ever leap in Subaru’s performance evolution.
Under the hood, the 2017 Subaru Impreza’s 2.0L 4-cylinder BOXER engine gains 4 hp (for a total of 152 hp) through direct injection. Active Torque Vectoring is available on Sport models.
Inside, the roomier 2017 Impreza models also debut new driver-assist technologies and multimedia features including standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on a 6.5” touchscreen.
