Yesterday was National Mustang Day in the United States, and Ford took the opportunity to announce some very good news for the legions of fans of the iconic Mustang muscle car: The high-performance Mustang Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT350R will be back for the 2018 model-year.
Both are set to make their appearance at dealerships this coming fall and will be identical to the 2017 editions, with the exception of three new available exterior colours: Orange Fury, Kona Blue, and Lead Foot Gray.
Drivers will thus be able to thrill to the same 5.2L V8 generating 526 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. The engine, transmission and differential each have their own coolers that help ensure maximum performance on the track. Powerful Brembo brakes (featuring vented 15.5-inch front rotors and six-piston calipers) as well as a MagneRide damping system further ensure driving heaven for fans of hard-charging power matched by precision braking.
The Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT350R 2018 will also be available, when taking the Electronics package, with the SYNC 3 voice-activated navigation system as well as a premium nine-speaker audio system, which can be fully taken in whilst seated in the six-way power sport seats that can be heated and cooled, and feature suede inserts.
