Chevrolet
Chevy has a PHEV that really doesn’t need an introduction. The Volt is to Chevrolet what the Prius is to Toyota – its banner PHEV with awesome brand recognition. Except that, the steamroller that is the SUV has squashed the Volt car; Chevrolet just recently stopped production on the Volt plug-in hybrid.
That doesn’t mean that the 2019 Volt PHEV ($40,195) is not an option to be considered. This year the manufacturer made a few changes for what it turning out to be the model’s swansong. Charging the battery, for example, takes half the time it used to, at least with the Premier trim (that capacity is an option on the LT as well).
