Patrick Laperle (Chevy No 91), 2007 ACT-Castrol and 2008 ACT champion, won the first race of the 2009 season, the ACT-Castrol 100-lap held at the Autodrome St-Eustache on this very cold Sunday afternoon.
The race was originally scheduled for Saturday evening, but it had to be postponed to Sunday because of the heavy rain falling on the track.
By winning this race, Laperle also won a guest ticket to race in a special race at Loudon during next Sylvania 300 event in September.
Laperle, who hails from St-Denis-sur-Richelieu, was followed by Quebec City's Donald Theetge (Chevy No 60) and 16-year old Ontarian driver Brandon Watson (Chevy no 19).
Laperle took the lead on lap 83 following an intense period of racing marked by no less than eight yellow flag situations.
The next ACT-Castrol race will be held at l'Autodrome Montmagny on May 30.
