As promised, the all-new 2016 BMW 7 Series was officially unveiled today. Look for it to arrive in showrooms this fall.

For the sixth generation of its full-size luxury sedan, the German automaker incorporated as much technology as possible, starting with the newly redesigned iDrive 5.0 interface with touch display and Gesture Control – a world first. Pre-selected hand movements in the vicinity of the centre console allow 3D sensors to register and fulfil requested actions. Gestures to adjust the audio volume control, accept or reject incoming phone calls can be easily executed.

With regard to safety, the 2016 BMW 7 Series offers Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Active Cruise Control with Frontal Collision Warning, Dynamic Damping Control, and Driving Dynamic Control.

North American customers will be the only ones to receive a long-wheelbase model, which incidentally boasts an extra inch over its predecessor. The new 2016 BMW 7 Series is also the brand's first vehicle to feature an Active Kidney Grille including visible air flap control. The air flap is only open when there is an increased cooling air requirement, otherwise remaining closed.

As for engine selection, there will be a 320-horsepower inline 6-cylinder and a 445-horsepower 4.4L V8. The latter is paired with the latest version of the intelligent all-wheel-drive system in the new BMW 750i xDrive.
