Jaguar Cars has decided to pull the plug on its unsuccessful effort in American Le Mans racing with the XKR GT race car.

Overseen by Rocketsports Racing, the involvement of the British manufacturer in ALMS yielded a sixth place as its best result, over a little more than two seasons.

In 2010, Rocketsports also entered an XKR GT in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but could only manage four laps (roughly 35 miles) before retiring from the day-long event.

Jaguar justified the decision of pulling out by putting forward its intentions to focus on a "global product-growth plan", according to the Motorsport-Guide.
