Andros Trophy: Dayraut and Prost win in Andorra

Jean-Philippe Dayraut (Mini Countryman) and Alain Prost (Dacia Lodgy) shared victories in Andorra, and stand respectivement first and second in provisional championship classification.

Dayraut was dominant in the first round’s qualifying heats, and the reigning series’ champion maintained his first position overall at the end of the rounds despite Alain Prost and Franck Lagorce’s victories in the final heats. Prost and Lagorce stand second and third overall in the first round behind Dayraut.

In the second round, Prost set the best performance in the qualifying heats. The four-time F1 World Champion led Jean-Baptiste Dubourg (Renault Clio III) and Olivier Panis’ Skoda Fabia.

Prost went on to capture victory win in his final heat, while Benjamin Rivière (Skoda Fabia) won the second heat. Prost took victory in the overall classification of the second round ahead of Jean-Baptiste Dubourg and Olivier Panis.

Meanwhile, Canadian Jacques Villeneuve, who set the 10th best performance in qualifying for the first round in his Skoda Fabia, and took 5th place in his final heat, to be classified 10th overall in the first round.

Then, Villeneuve took 6th position in qualifying in the second round, and climbed on the podium by finishing 3rd in his final heat, which put him in 6th position overall in the second round. He now stands 9th in championship classification.
