Canadian driver and former Formula 1 driver Jacques Villeneuve endured a tough time in the fourth round of the Andros Trophy ice racing series last weekend at Isola 2000, France.

Benjamin Riviere, driving a private and unsponsored Skoda Fabia won the two rounds. In Race 1, he finished first ahead of Jean-Philippe Dayraut (MINI Countryman) and Alain Prost (Dacia Lodgy). Then in Race 2, he won again from Prost and Olivier Pernaut (Ford Fiesta).

Rivieres jumps into third place in the overall standings, just four points behind Prost and Dayraut.

The leader in the standings prior to the Isola 2000 race, Olivier Panis was hit by Dayraut in the final race when leading and retired.

“Dayraut hit my car during the opening lap of the finale,” said Panis.

“Since the beginning of the season, I try to drive as cleanly as possible despite the aggressive moves of some rivals against the Skoda drivers. I must say that I am very disappointed that the race stewards only say in this a race incident. I now know what to do,” said Panis.

His former BAR F1 teammate, Jacques Villeneuve was forced to battle in the middle of the field. He finished the first race in 16th place, and he took 14th place in the second.
