TomTom is a name synonymous with navigation systems. For many, it’s the go-to brand when it comes to buying an aftermarket system for your older car. The same thinking applies when downloading an app on a tablet or iPhone.

TomTom's fantastic $59.99 (Canada-Alaska) app ranks among the most comprehensive, user-friendly, and offers numerous benefits.

The quick-launching app features a familiar menu whose ergonomics are easy to use. Said menu has now been improved to add options that were not available on the previous v1.10. It’s amazing to see how many improvements can come from a version increase of only 0.01…

The first update has to do with the map itself given that, on average, 15% of roads change every year. Another revision involves updating route types to a different setting in little or no time.

Perhaps the most interesting update has to do with now having the ability to select an address from the contact list without having to share information with TomTom. Likewise, one can now copy and paste addresses into the TomTom from a webpage without issue.

Finally, whether or not you’re a fan of FourSquare, you can now search through millions of exciting places to visit and discover.

In the end, this TomTom Navigation app remains a fantastic tool for the iPhone and represents a cheaper alternative to traditional navigation systems.
