Apple this week announced that its new CarPlay infotainment platform will start with iOS 9, allowing automakers to add apps into the system and enabling drivers to use it without plugging in (if the car supports wireless connection to iPhone), according to The Verge.
For instance, a car company's CarPlay app for iOS 9 would make it possible to adjust the radio or HVAC system without switching out of the navigation system. Right now, users have to bounce around different-looking menus, which can be frustrating in the long run. With CarPlay, though, all of a car's functionality will be turned into an app or two.
