Following the recent discovery that approximately 85,000 Volkswagen, Porsche and Audi vehicles equipped with a 3.0L diesel engine also exceed emissions standards in the U.S., Audi has decided to suspend two engineers who played a role in the rigging of these engines, according to Reuters

CEO Rupert Stadler said in an interview with Germany’s Donaukurier regional newspaper published on Thursday that Audi is now investigating whether other employees within the technical departments deliberately manipulated emission-control devices.

The latest Audi suspensions increase to eight the number of officials confirmed to have been put on leave across the VW group as a result of its internal investigations, including at least six senior individuals.
