The 2011 version of the Ford Explorer has been making waves on the various social networks for a few months now and has just made its debut on the 2010-2011 auto show circuit.
Evidently, the manufacturer worked diligently at refining the Explorer. Assembled on a Ford Taurus chassis, the popular SUV has swapped its V8 engine for a 3.5-litre V6 mill or, surprise, surprise, a 2.0-litre, turbocharged four-banger. All in the name of better fuel economy.
Die-hard SUV fans have been making a big fuss about it since its introduction, wondering why Ford’s star SUV is now derived from a car and has dropped all V8 muscle. Before drawing any hasty conclusions, the Auto123 team and Bertrand Godin will put the 2011 Explorer to the test.
