MW’s i3 and i8 concept cars will make their North American debuts next week in New York, where the automaker will lift the veil on the two cutting-edge, eco-friendly models.
The diminutive BMW i3 and the athletic BMW i8, slated to hit dealerships in 2013 and 2014 respectively, offer a unique take on “being green” as they are the first electric and hybrid-electric vehicles to be made primarily of carbon fibre. BMW says this weight-reducing manufacturing process will revolutionize the auto industry by significantly reducing both fuel consumption and emissions. After their debut in the Big Apple, the BMW i3 and BMW i8 will head to the Los Angeles Auto Show in time for the press days on November 16 and 17. Film buffs will then get the chance to admire the BMW i8 on the big screen in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol this December.
