On April 28th 1940, the famous Mille Miglia race was won by Fritz Huschke von Hanstein and Walter Baumer aboard a BMW 328 MM Touring Coupe. They beat out a mainly Italian field of competitors and set an average high speed record of 166 km/h or 103 mph, which still holds today.

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of this accomplishment, nostalgic BMW Group of Italy has launched a special model called the Z4 sDrive35is Limited Edition Mille Miglia. On sale in the Italian market exclusively, only 99 copies will be produced.

The Z4 sDrive35is Limited Edition Mille Miglia includes the M Sport aerodynamic package and is painted in an exclusive colour called Polaris Metallic, created to mimic the 328 that was entered in the 1940 race. A flat black grille, dark chrome 19-inch alloy wheels and appropriate badging highlight its exterior appearance.

The car’s interior benefits from Alcantara and leather upholstery, while the black leather seats and M Sport wheel feature red contrast stitching. A commemorative plate with the Mille Miglia logo is located on the centre console, just ahead of the shift lever.

The 340-horsepower Z4 Limited Edition Mille Miglia also gets the M Sport package and the 7-speed dual-clutch automated sequential gearbox, good for 0 to 100 km/h acceleration times of 4.8 seconds and a governed top speed of 250 km/h.
