The question of the Envoy XUV is much less complex than the Bonneville. Where the Pontiac must deal with internal competition,

Originally, it was predicted that annual sales of the Envoy XUV would be in excess of 125,000 units; however, only 12,390 units have been sold. Sales have been so low, GM chose to group XUV sales in its monthly reports.

While things look down for the XUV, General Motors recognizes that there is a niche market for such a vehicle. Bunnell said that "pet owners absolutely love it, as do antique dealers and contractors, because it's so functional." Ads demonstrate the practicality of the XUV, where it has been displayed, with its roof open, carrying a tall cabinet, upright in its cargo area.
At the same time, it was recognized that the concept is simply too left-field to be considered by the masses, with more customers opting for the less expensive seven-seater variant. Internal competition is another strike against the XUV - Chevrolet's Avalanche offers similar capabilities, but in a more truck-like package.
Bunnell expects that the Envoy XUV will be produced "through the '05 model year," but after that, its future remains unknown.
