The future is electric, and Cadillac is presenting its vision with the Converj, a four-passenger, luxury grand touring coupe.

GM's much-anticipated EV powertrain that will motivate the Chevrolet Volt is called Voltec, and will also power the Converj. The car's range is 64 kilometres, and swells to several hundreds when the gasoline engine regenerates energy for the battery pack.

The Converj's torque output is rated at 273 lb-ft and about 160 horsepower, and the car can reach a top speed of 160 km/h. It rides on 21- and 22-inch wheels, and has solar panels that help power the vehicle's accessories. Rear-view cameras replace outside mirrors, and the concept's underbody is completely covered for better aerodynamics.

The interior of the electric Caddy features white suede trim with black leather seats, with aluminum and woodgrain accents. The dash incorporates a LED instrument panel with a touch screen for adjusting navigation, climate and audio controls.

The Converj could reach production.
