Today marks the start of ''Be Tire Smart Week,'' and while a new survey shows that 96% of Canadian motorists realize the importance of proper tire inflation for saving fuel, one out of three still don't check their tire pressure every month.
As a result, 500 million litres of fuel (worth about $675 million) are wasted annually in Canada due to under-inflated tires ― equal to the consumption of 275,000 vehicles during a full year.
The survey also reveals that nearly two thirds of drivers ignore the necessity to check pressure when the tires are cold. What's more, 72% rely on a visual check only.
