You’re probably no stranger to the concept of a three-dimensional view. Human beings benefit from binocular vision (that means two eyes), which allows us to quickly figure out how far away an object is, and which objects are in front or behind others.

To artificially create a 3D viewing environment, in pictures or in video, a filter is required, such as 3D glasses. How we create these pictures is actually pretty easy. Using a superposition of two images, certain aspects are coloured in order to be filtered through the glasses you’re wearing. Quite simply, each image enters one of your two eyes, which creates the effect of perspective.

In order to view our 3D photo galleries, you need glasses with red and blue lenses (aka anaglyph). You might have a pair lying at home, found in a cereal box or included with a toy. If not, here’s what you can do:

Do it yourself 3D glasses
If you’re feeling a little creative, you can make your own glasses. Follow the link for instructions on how to do it.

Purchase 3D glasses

It’s pretty easy to buy glasses off the Internet. Just type in “3d glasses” in a search engine such as Google, and within the first results, you’ll find links to purchase them. Follow the link for an example.

If your creativity level is at its lowest, however, and buying stuff on the Internet isn’t an option, your best bet for getting your 3D glasses remains looking through your kids’ cereal boxes or toy chest.
