A driver safety program should be offered in every organization. It enhances the organization’s workplace safety measures and sends a strong message that safe driving is a key part of the corporate culture. The Alberta Motor Association (AMA) encourages safe driving practices and advocates for Alberta motorists on issues related to driver distraction, improved safety engineering and effective driver licensing and testing. By offering research backed training and quality delivery, we are helping to keep insurance premiums down and motorists safe.

AMA Fleet Safety Services has launched the first of their online courses with the Commercial Vehicle/Van Handling course, Driver Fatigue Management – Basic and Advanced programs, as well as the new online Proactive Driver Assessment. “Using an online platform has really allowed us to become a world-class operation,” says Ron Wilson, Manager, AMA Fleet Safety Services, “having these courses online allows greater access to our products, and is a cost-effective and efficient way of offering training without sacrificing quality.

Fleet managers can now create an account, distribute courses and monitor their employees’ progress, all with the click of a mouse. Students also benefit from online course delivery because they can learn at their own pace, when it’s most convenient. “Using an online platform affords us a new and innovative way to reach clients who may otherwise be unable to participate in a fleet driver safety program,” says Wilson.

Courses are affordable and can be completed quickly, easily and cost effectively. In addition, our courses are great for auditory and visual learners. Seeing and hearing the information will help participants learn, retain and recall the information. Our course also comes complete with online exercises, quizzes and animations so that the learning experience is complete.

More courses are currently in development and will include Fuel Efficient Driving, Winter Driving and Collision Avoidance. Courses can be purchased online at AMAFleetSafety.ca. For more information, contact Len March, Sales Coordinator, AMA Fleet Safety Services at len.march@ama.ab.ca.
