We knew a V8 engine would be eventually introduced in the Continental GT since Bentley announced it some time ago. The first tease, and probably not the last, from the English manufacturer comes in the form of a sound clip demonstrating the new engine’s soundtrack, which Bentley calls “stirring and thunderous.” We’ll let you be the judge of that.
The new V8 should displace 4.0L and produce somewhere around 550 horsepower with the help of direct injection and twin turbochargers. It sounds eerily familiar to the new engine Audi presented at the Frankfurt auto show that will see action in the new S6, S7 and S8 models – not that we’re complaining.
The Bentley Continental GT V8 should be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show next month.
