– BMW Canada has announced that the 2009 BMW Driver Training summer season will be held in June and July at Downsview Park, Toronto, while the highest two levels are offered in Mont-Tremblant in September. The five courses: Compact, Advanced, Perfection, and Fascination I & II are all structured to offer increasing levels of dynamic driving skills and safety, as well as a better understanding of a vehicle’s capability.

Launched in Canada in 2001, the successful BMW Driver Training program is based upon the Company’s German program, which is now available in 30 countries worldwide. Under the watchful eye of Chief Driving Instructor Pierre Savoy and his team, more than 10,000 participants have graduated from BMW Driver Training program since its inception, making it Canada’s most successful advanced driver training program.


BMW Driver Training – Compact Course
This half day course was designed for young drivers and is available to anyone with a G2 license or higher. Beginning with the introduction Compact course, students spend a half day learning key fundamental elements for improving driving including, seating position, steering technique and braking while taking a look at typical driving scenarios faced in everyday driving.
• $300.00 (plus applicable taxes)
• One half day - Morning and afternoon sessions available
• Course offered at Downsview Park in Toronto, ON
• Utilizes a special fleet of BMW 335i Coupés (manual and automatic transmissions)
• Limited to 16 participants with 2 instructors
• Suited to all drivers – minimum G2 license (or equivalent); minimum 16 years of age
• Dates Offered: June 21, 2009 (two sessions per day)

BMW Driver Training – Advanced Course
Students may also choose to start with the Advanced course where they will spend a full day working on key elements of typical driving scenarios. Students learn seating position, steering technique, vehicle dynamics, emergency braking with and without ABS as well as brake and avoidance in slippery conditions and front and rear wheel skid control. To end the day, participants will be invited to showcase the skills they have learned in a slalom course.
• $595.00 (plus applicable taxes)
• One full day
• Fully catered
• Course offered at Downsview Park in Toronto, ON
• Utilizes a special fleet of BMW 335i Coupés (manual and automatic transmissions)
• Limited to 20 participants with 2 instructors
• Drivers must hold a valid full-class license; minimum 18 years of age
• Dates Offered: June 11-15, 18, 19, 22, 23, 26, 27, 29, 30; July 1, 2, 4-6

BMW Driver Training – Perfection Course
Upon completion of the Advanced course, students can refine and upgrade their skills by progressing to the Perfection course. Utilizing a fleet of 335i Coupés (manual and automatic transmissions) and M3 Coupés with M Double Clutch Transmissions (M DCT), this course simulates different critical emergency scenarios students may face while driving on more open stretches of road. Skills such as braking to a designated stop, braking on uneven surfaces, holding oversteer around a 180 degree curve as well as difficult read-and-react challenges will be practiced. At the conclusion of the day, students drive around a kidney shaped autocross course and test the full power of their M3 Coupé while taking advantage of the skills learned throughout the day.

• Utilizes a special fleet of BMW 335i Coupés (manual and automatic transmissions) and BMW M3 Coupés with M Double Clutch Transmissions (M DCT)
• Limited to 12 participants with 3 instructors
• Prerequisite: Drivers must have successfully completed Advanced (Advanced II from 2005-2007) or BMW Winter Driver Training
• Dates Offered: June 20, 28; July 3, 2009

BMW Driver Training – Fascination I and II Courses
Participants who have successfully completed the Perfection course can progress to Fascination I held at Le Circuit Mont-Tremblant. Taking place over two days, Fascination I represents the ultimate in driver training. This program allows drivers to experience exciting track exercises such as high-speed ideal-line cornering, high-speed lane changes, track lapping and a range of other specialist skills. Fascination II, the highest level of driver training offered by BMW in Canada refreshes student’s skills on braking-and-downshifting and controlling oversteer in the morning. The remainder of this one day program allows students to experience multiple lapping sessions under the guidance of the BMW Driver Training Team. Driving a 414 horse-power BMW M3, which has a 0-100 km/h time of 4.8 seconds in real track conditions is sure to get the adrenaline flowing for the true driving enthusiast.

Fascination I
• $3,350.00 (plus applicable taxes)
• Two full days
• Course offered exclusively in Mont-Tremblant, QC
• Fully catered breakfast and lunch; one evening's complimentary group dinner
• Utilizes a fleet of BMW M3 Coupés with M Double Clutch Transmissions (M DCT)
• Limited to 12 participants with 3 instructors
• Prerequisite: Drivers must have successfully completed Perfection Driver Training
• Dates Offered: September 21-22, 2009

Fascination II

• $1,900.00 (plus applicable taxes)
• One full day
• Course offered exclusively in Mont-Tremblant, QC
• Fully catered breakfast and lunch
• Utilizes a fleet of BMW M3 Coupés with M Double Clutch Transmissions (M DCT)
• Limited to 12 participants with 3 instructors
• Prerequisite: Drivers must have successfully completed Fascination I
• Dates Offered: September 23, 2009

Corporate and Private BMW Driver Training Courses
BMW Driver Training also offers custom courses for corporate groups. BMW Driver Training can be an ideal team building experience, a great way to build client relationships, a unique incentive opportunity or a fabulous gift. The turnkey one day program is based on the Advanced Driver Training course and can accommodate up to 20 participants at a time.
