We’ve barely gotten over the unveiling of the BMW M5 concept in early April, and now anonymous sources within the German firm are talking about hooking up an all-wheel drive to the beastly 552-hp V8.
Since the first appearance of the production version of the M5 isn’t scheduled before the Frankfurt Auto Show this fall, that’s the only information available at the moment. BMW is obviously looking to keep us in suspense until the show.
According to the automaker, the luxury sedan will be more potent than its predecessor on the straightaway while reducing consumption and emissions by 25%, thanks partly to the use of a start/stop system and a seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox developed by Getrag.
The news will undoubtedly make BMW fans’ mouth water. The automaker has never offered an AWD M variant in its history.
