After all, this Audi Sport Quattro was the basis for the car, the famed Sport Quattro S1, that turned the World Rallye Championship on its ear. With this car, Audi combined turbocharging and AWD for the first time ever and dominated the sport until other manufacturers got tired of getting their butts kicked. The Quattro's original engine was a turbocharged 2.1L 5-cylinder engine which was good for 197 hp and 210 lb-ft of torque. The choked-for-north-American-emissions version put out a miserly 160 hp. The Sport Quattro featured the same 2.1L (11 cc less in fact) however its larger turbocharger, 20 valves and all aluminum alloy construction allowed for 302 hp.
