Death of a wagonsman

I'm not sure I'll make it through the next decade... There seems to be no end to the slaughter; helpless innocent station wagons are being axed, chopped, abandoned and left by the wayside. Every day, we hear tragic news about this or that car manufacturer pulling the plug on one, if not their last, station wagon. Just a few days ago, Volvo killed the V50 in North America.

Did this poor car even get a fair chance? Oh! The Humanity!

My life was wonderful until I turned 20. Most car makers had handsome purposeful station wagons and then something took place in or around 1996: the beginning of the end. Slowly but surely, over the last 15 years, members from this breed have been disappearing, call it a form of extinction. Yes, that's what it is! The station wagon is an endangered specie.

Unfortunately, for wagonistas such as I, nothing has been done to save the versatile, fun-loving creature that is and was, the station wagon. Worse, the agony will continue. I fully expect that the BMW X1 will kill the 3-Series wagon, the new VW Jetta will see the end of the Golf wagon and, well, I can't bear to go on...

As a tribute, I've created this obituary, enumerating nearly as many wagons as I can remember that have needlessly kicked the bucket over the last fifteen years:
  • Acura TSX wagon (it was supposed to come, what a tragedy!)
  • BMW 5-Series wagon
  • Buick Roadmaster Estate wagon
  • Chevrolet Caprice Estate wagon
  • Chevrolet Optra wagon
  • Daewoo Nubira wagon
  • Dodge Magnum
  • Ford Escort wagon
  • Ford Focus wagon
  • Ford Taurus wagon
  • Honda Accord wagon
  • Jaguar X-Type wagon
  • Kia Rio RX-V
  • Lexus IS SportCross
  • Mazda Protegé5
  • Mazda6 wagon
  • Mercedes C-Class wagon (although it could return – I'm going on a hunger strike until it does!)
  • Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback (8th gen)
  • Saab 9-2x
  • Saturn LW
  • Saturn SW
  • Subaru Legacy wagon
  • Subaru Impreza wagon (the current Impreza is nothing more than a hatchback!)
  • Suzuki Esteem wagon
  • Toyota Camry wagon
  • Volkswagen Passat wagon
  • Volvo V40
  • Volvo V50
  • Volvo V70

Can you think of any others?
