The concept versions of the Honda Civic Si were presented for the first time today at the Detroit Auto Show, giving us a peek at the final shape that the all-new 2012 models will look like.
The models range will offer coupe and sedan body styles, two Si performance variants, a hybrid version and a natural-gas version. However, the latter still won’t be offered in Canada.
Like always, Honda promises “a Civic for all people” that will mix fuel economy, low emissions and driving pleasure.
The Civic’s lines are even more pronounced than those on the current-gen model and present a refreshed look without a drastic change, if we compare it to the Civic currently on sale. The Coupe version presented today includes a rear bumper air diffuser, a center exhaust outlet and 19-inch alloy wheels that also highlighted the sedan.
To further emphasize fuel economy, the vast majority of 2012 Civics will be equipped with Eco Assist technology, a feature already found in the CR-Z and Insight hybrids and helps driver adapt their driving habits to obtain lower their fuel consumption even more.
As for security features, the ninth-generation version of the most popular car in Canada will be equipped with standard traction and electronic stability control systems.
The 2012 Honda Civic will be on sale this spring.
