Ralph Gilles, CEO of the Dodge brand and Chrysler Group's chief designer, confirmed at the Chicago Auto Show that Dodge vehicles eventually will abandon the split cross-hair grille now that Ram is a separate brand.
The Dodge brand is "going a different way," he said, adding that it was too late in the product development cycle to make changes to the 2011 model year vehicles.
"We did as much as we could with the split cross-hair grille,'' he continued.
According to Gilles, the decision to keep the cross-hair grille on trucks was "a no-brainer" since ''they own it".
While he wouldn't comment further on the styling direction for the Dodge brand, it's now safe to assume that designers will focus on the exterior after working so hard in the past year or two to improve the interior.
