The downward spiral carries on in February for most automakers, as total Canadian light vehicles sales are down by 27.7% compared to the same period in 2008. Only 8 out of 26 brands saw their sales numbers go up.
Once again, Hyundai blows away its competition with a sales increase of 29.8% in February, thanks to their aggressive financing and leasing incentives. Curiously, in these uncertain economic times, luxury brands Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz have all posted gains compared to 2008.
Alas, GM is still in hot water with a sales decrease of 56.7%, while Honda's total sales plunge by 43.1% last month. Chrysler is the best-selling manufacturer for February.
